In a remarkable display of responsive leadership and commitment to basic education, the Mayor of Njikoka Local Government Council, Hon. Barr. Chinedu Dominic Ononiba, on Wednesday, 3rd July 2025, officially commissioned a newly constructed six-room water system toilet facility at Ozalla Primary School, Abagana.
The school, which previously lost its sanitary infrastructure to a fire incident, had been without functional toilet and water facilities for an extended period—forcing pupils and staff to endure unhealthy and unsafe conditions. Recognizing the urgent need, the local government swiftly intervened by constructing a modern, water-flushed toilet block to restore dignity, hygiene, and safety to the school environment.
The Headmistress, Mrs. Bridget Okonkwo, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Mayor, describing the intervention as “a major relief and a sign of a truly caring government.” Speaking on behalf of the pupils, Senior Prefect Master Somtochukwu Elechukwu also thanked the Mayor and prayed for continued progress and more child-focused projects in the area.
Barr. Ononiba reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing education and health, especially in primary schools. He also praised the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR, for setting the pace in educational transformation across the state.
